Stein am Rhein to Romanshorn
The harbour town of Romanshorn on the shores of Lake Constance is the perfect place for lakeside walks, especially during the summer months, which views of the castle and the old church. There is a marina for private yachts and from the harbour there is the opportunity to take a ferry across the lake to Friedrichshafen or a cruise to enjoy the sights. The route along the lake shore towards Kreuzlingen is a much-used skating section and the gentle hinterland is popular with hikers and cyclists.
Walking trails along the lakeside offer beautiful, changing landscapes through the natural vegetation, woodland sections and beaches with opportunities for a swim. Cyclist can enjoy routes which take them through the surrounding countryside with its orchards, flower-filled meadows and ancient towns. Nearby is the Romanshorn forest with forest reserve. Also of interest is Locorama – Railway Adventure Park, this is an old engine depot near the station which is now a rail museum.
