Lindau to Friedrichshafen. Day 2 of our Motorhome trip around lake constanceSituated in the German state of Baden- Württemberg near the widest point of Lake Constance or Bodensee, Friedrichshafen is well known as home to the famous Zeppelin Airships which were constructed here, today the Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen is housed in the former harbour railway station and exhibits the world’s largest collection on the history and technology of airships. Most of the city has been rebuilt following major damage during WW2, the long promenade along the lakeside offers beautiful views across to the Alps, Switzerland and Austria and leads along to the Schloss Hofen which was once the residence of the kings of Württemberg. The Schlosskirche (palace church) with its two 55 m high spires made from Rorschach sandstone is a landmark of Friedrichshafen.
