Guaranteed snow, world-famous hospitality, tradition and sophisticated tranquillity have been attracting winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world for at least a century to this Eldorado of winter sport which lies between 1,450 and 2,450 metres above sea level and is one of the distinguished circle of 12 locations dubbed “Best of the Alps”. But it’s not only those with sporting ambitions who get their money’s worth in this heavenly winter landscape, because there is also something on hand for walkers, gourmets and culture lovers.
Alpine skiing is taken very seriously in Lech Zürs am Arlberg – for centuries Arlberg has been known as the “cradle of Alpine skiing”. It casts a spell over enthusiastic skiers year after year, winter after winter, because Arlberg is where tradition and modernity meet. As a ski resort with the very highest standards of comfort and 280 km of perfectly prepared ski runs, Lech Zürs am Arlberg makes skiers’ hearts beat faster and guarantees a relaxed and varied skiing holiday in the heart of Arlberg.
Ski Arlberg offers you uniquely enjoyable skiing with a total of 79 cable cars and lifts, 280 km of pistes and 180 km of high Alpine deep powder snow runs. In Lech Zürs am Arlberg nothing stands in the way of the best fun on the pistes, and there are numerous rustic huts and “Alps” to take care of your creature comforts. There is a free local/ski bus to transport you in comfort.
Arlberg stands for tradition and modernity. The first lift was developed here at the start of the 20th century and the world’s first heated chairlift was also put into operation in Lech Zürs am Arlberg. Since then, winter sport enthusiasts have enjoyed the highest levels of comfort and witnessed ever more innovations. The combination lift constructed in 2011 on the Weibermahd, for example, with eight-person chairs and ten-person cabins, offers the highest levels of technology, safety and comfort
“The White Ring”, a unique ski circuit in the Alps between Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech, is celebrating over 50 years of skiing. The original cable cars, lifts and pistes of the “White Ring” still form the centrepiece of the magnificent skiing area of Lech Zürs am Arlberg, developed by daring pioneers of skiing, which, with its 79 cable cars and lifts, now guarantees a limitless skiing experience in Arlberg.
In 2005/2006, on the 50th anniversary of the traditional “White Ring” ski circuit, the first “The White Ring – the race” event came into being, the longest ski race in the world. The route, which is 22 kilometres long and has an altitude difference of 5,500 metres, starts at the Rüfikopf and runs round Lech Zürs am Arlberg, with the legendary Madloch downhill run as the secret climax. The course record is held by former ski racer Patrick Ortlieb, with a time of 44:35:07 minutes.
Lech Zürs am Arlberg also offers snowboarders and freestylers the best opportunities to indulge their passion. On the Schlegelkopf, the 1,600 m high Lech snowpark, which, continues to grow and offer ever more professional facilities, gets snowboarders’ and freestylers’ pulses racing. From the beginning of December, riders can show off their skills here and so enjoy an early start to the season, away from the glaciers, in Lech Zürs am Arlberg.

Après-ski comes from the French for “After Skiing” but is now used universally and refers to the socializing that is popular after a days skiing ends. When the sun goes down is when the ski resorts come alive and enjoying a steaming mug of hot Chocolate laced with rum or a glass of hot Gluhwein whilst watching the sunset over the snow covered mountain peaks is a memory which will last a life-time.
