Dates : 6th December 2018
Location : St Giles’ Church and Church Street
Wrexham’s Christmas Market has become one of the most eagerly awaited events in the town’s calendar and successfully attracts thousands of shoppers year after year. 2018 will once again see a Victorian theme to the market and visitors will find over 70 stalls in Church Street, St Giles’ churchyard and inside the church itself.
Located in the most picturesque part of the town centre, the Christmas market, which is bustling and attractive during daylight hours, really comes into it own and takes on a magical look when darkness approaches as each stall is lit and decorated with greenery and tiny twinkling lights.
Stalls this year will sell products such as toys, candles, clothing, jewellery, handbags, books, cards, crafts, gifts, seasonal plants and hand made Christmas decorations. Local producers will be on hand to take orders for Christmas turkeys or geese or to sell everything from pies, sausages, cakes, brownies, chocolates and fresh-from-the griddle Welshcakes, to local cheese, beers, cider and preserves. For anyone feeling in need of immediate sustenance, there will be all sorts of hot, freshly prepared food to try including German sausages, festive mince pies, mulled wine and hot chestnuts.
What makes this market really special is that it spills over into the beautiful parish church of St Giles – a real haven of warmth on a cold winter’s evening. Inside there are more stalls and refreshments, music and carols and many of the thousands of visitors are so captivated by their surroundings that they take an opportunity to just sit and soak up the atmosphere for a while.
