In our market you will find Swedish Christmas sweets, smoked sausages, reindeer- and elkmeat and other delicacies, glögg (mulled wine) and a range of Swedish handicrafts and decorative arts of high-quality workmanship. Today’s Christmas market began in 1837, it has been running continuously since 1907-1914. This makes it the oldest Christmas market in Stockholm and Sweden.
Welcome to visit this famous, oldest and most traditional Christmas Market in the Old Town – Gamla Stan!
Stroll through the winding, medieval streets the Old Town next to the Royal Castle and stop off for some of Stop off for some of Sweden’s traditional delicacies such as the roasted almonds and home-made sausages, take a warming glass of Glogg to keep out the cold. The market is open from the end of November until just before Christmas.
If you fancy seeing a little more of the countryside around Stockholm then take a train ride to Sigtuna, about one hour away. Sigtuna is the oldest town in Sweden and here you will find beautiful traditional handicrafts and, of course, the obligatory dancing around the Christmas Tree. The Market is open from late-November until mid-December.
Christmas at Prins Eugen’s Waldemarsudde Palace Art Museum
