Folk Museum, Oslo, December. Christmas markets are a popular feature in Norwegian towns and cities from the end of November up to the day before Christmas Eve. One of the most famous is the open air market held at the Folk Museum on Bygdøy, Oslo, the first two weekends in December. The market boasts some 120 stalls selling all manners of arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, and seasonal food. Christmas carols and a Santa’s workshop add to the fun.

The Christmas Fair at the Norwegian Folk Museum is a popular tradition among both tourists and locals.
The Christmas market has over 100 old-fashioned stalls where you can purchase home-made crafts, Christmas decorations, cakes and other treats. The museum cafés are decorated for the holidays and serve coffee, gingerbread cookies and other Norwegian Christmas specialities.In the decorated houses you can see how Norwegians have celebrated Christmas through the years. You can also visit Santa’s workshop and enjoy choral music and folk dancing.
