Handicrafts from Bethlehem and the Spanish Villancicos, the Christmas traditions meet here in Rovereto
The Christmas Market in Rovereto is not only a symbol for the Christmas of the People, but the traditional small wooden chalets sitting beneath a star filled sky in the City of Peace, hosts a colourful tent from the Holy Land and the Villancicos, the traditional Christmas songs from Spain.
The artisans of Bethlehem and the Dabka group will bring to Rovereto the atmosphere of the Middle East: cribs, products in olive, mother of pearl, ceramic , textile and popular song that express the love for the native land.On Christmas Eve the children will be invited into the crib garden for the blessing of the Jesus Child: they will cross the market with small lanterns , accompanied by angels and bagpipes, and will lay down the little Jesus Child in the crib. The Christmas House will host reading and activities for children, for all the duration of the market. The lightning ceremony of the big Christmas tree will be accompanied by the band of the Magnifica Comunità di Folgaria and by the performances of young writers, who will represent the nativity. In the garden of Casa Cobelli ,set in a lovely scenery, there will be a large crib, made by the Cantamessi masters. Cribs of different forms and from different traditions will be placed in the old town of Rovereto.
