Christmas time around the church on Neupfarrplatz is evident once the Christmas market in Regensburg begins. The market in Regensburg dates back 200 years. Decorative Christmas tree decorations, gifts or wood carvings can be bought here. The taste of punch, cookies, cinnamon stars and roasted chestnuts is all around and all the lanes and squares in the town will be lit up by the Christmas illuminations. Its an old tradition: To go at least once before Christmas to the Christmas market, to enjoy a glass of punch, a roll with roasted sausages (the ones here are very unique) – it’s a must! Above all, however, the 40 different types of mulled wine and the famous Knackwurstsemmeln with horseradish, gherkins and mustard are a legend.
