Just steps away from the Kunigunden-Markt, on the historic market square with the gothic Stiftskirche (abbey church), the Rathaus (town hall) and Scheffelhaus, this traditional Christmas market is held here every year .
In the marketplace you will find the following products:
pancakes, waffles, garlic baguettes, the Christmas pyramid with Glühwein, a children’s train, almonds, Gingerbread, steamed dumplings, potato pancakes, handicraft items, spices, spiced teas, wool, scarves, candles, Gingerbread , beads, jewelry, pans, pots, and of course wines, and much more.
There is a rich and varied program of events throughout Advent, for the children there is the arrival of St Nikolaus on the 6 December, Alphornbläser and trombonists, Gospel choirs and big brass bands, and to finish off there is a wonderful Firework display.
The historic town square, decorated and illuminated accordingly as well as in various courtyards of the town is the ideal setting for this Christmas market. The surrounding half-timbered buildings also lend to the romantic and magical atmosphere that well befits the name given to the Christmas market. Kuniguda is the name of the famous noblewoman of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse who saved the town from destruction during the French war of succession.
Imagine the atmosphere among the scents and the sparkle of thousands of small lights coming from the Christmas fir trees and wooden stalls. A true paradise for gourmets, a festival of colours and flavours that, from courtyard to courtyard, presents and offers fine cuisine and quality gifts coming from Germany as well as from many other European countries.
