The Christmas markets invite you to a timeless journey during which you will enjoy the tastes, lights and marvels of a magical and authentic Christmas. Taste the pleasures of Strasbourg Christmas, and awaken all your senses: aromas of mulled wine and gingerbread, unrivaled tastes of Christmas culinary specialties, Christmas songs and concerts that will enchant young and old alike, and lastly, the magical illuminations of the city, where the streets and squares are dressed in light.

Since 1570, Strasbourg has been setting out a Christmas market around its prestigious Cathedral. The influence of that traditional Christmas Market across Europe has grown unceasingly, thanks to its authenticity and the quality of the merchandise on sale. With its many Christmas markets, Strasbourg invites you to a delightful tour of its historical centre.

The Great Christmas Tree stands proudly on place Kléber, at the centre of Strasbourg. It delights thousands of admirers,
young and old alike. Every year, at the end of November, an exceptional show full of grace and magic brings people together in a spirit of sharing and fraternity, when they discover the glittering new decoration of the Great Tree.

As Christmas rolls along, Strasbourg dresses up in all its finery. The richly decorated streets and houses shine with their bright and colourful illuminations. A trail of light guides visitors through the city, like an enormous string of fairy lights stretching to the Cathedral.
