Date : 23. November 22.December 2019

The entire city is alive with a vibrant Christmas atmosphere with all sorts of things to do and see for both adults and children. Christmas holds a special place in the hearts of Danes, especially in the lovely city of Aarhus, East Jutland. Each year the city comes alive with Christmas spirit.

Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus, is the perfect starting point for a seasonal escape. Step back in time and discover the joys of an old fashioned Danish Christmas of the early 1900’s with a visit to Den Gamle By – The Old Town. The open-air museum comprising some 75 authentic Danish buildings from all over the country, creates a feeling of living history with period costumed staff re-enacting a bygone era. During December, Den Gamle By will host a magical Christmas market with decorations, gifts and culinary delights. The indoor Aarhus Christmas Market inside the atmospheric old Equestrian Hall is the perfect place to stave off the winter chills. With more than 100 stalls offering beautiful hand-made crafts and artwork, festive decorations and delicious Christmas treats.

The perfect market for bad weather days! nearly 100 stalls selling local handicrafts and decorations. Browse along the rows and watch the craftsmen at work, you may even have the opportunity to try your hand at some of the crafts. You can find the Aarhus Christmas market in the old “Ridehuset” (Riding house) at Vester Alle 3 in central Aarhus. The market is open from late November until Christmas and admission is free.
