The Christmas Market is set against the backdrop of the historic old town of Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, and is held every year from late November until Christmas Eve. Feldkirch lies in the Rhein Valley bordering Liechtenstein to the south and Switzerland to the west. There are special highlights such as the gingerbread house on the Leonhardplatz and the Feldkirch Christmas Walk, which connects the different venues. Naturally the market stalls are the main focus where you can keep a lookout for those special Christmas gifts. There are culinary specialties, crafts and decorations for the Christmas tree. The Feldkirch Advent market offers many additional events like story readings, baking for the children and craft rooms.
Also in Feldkirck look out for:-
Schattenburg Castle. 13th century castle, on a hill to the east of the town is impossible to miss. It was once the seat of the Earls of Montfort. Today there is a local history museum and some restaurants inside.
Marktgasse. This street feels like a proper medieval German street, with its arches and covered walkways.
St. Nikolaus Cathedral. Gothic style church built in 1478.
Katzenturm, (Opposite tourist office). This defence tower was once part of the towns fortifications. It is believed to be named after the canons (cats) which were kept in the tower.
Landesmusik-konservatorium. This building is now a music conservatory, but it used to be a Jesuit College. The author of Sherlock Holmes, Arthur Conan Doyle once was a boarder here.

Children will be excited to meet with Santa Claus and maybe, just maybe!! there will be a little present for them too!
