Visit Casa Lleó i Morera a gem of Modernista art
Located at the heart of Barcelona’s elegant Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Lleó i Morera is a stunning example of turn-of-the-century modernista architecture by one of its greatest exponents, architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. In 1902 Francesca Morera assigned Montaner to remodel ancient “casa Rocamora”, built in 1864. She died in 1904, and the building was named after her son, Albert Lleó i Morera. 50-minute private or group guided visits offer an insight into the art and history of the building and the Lleó i Morera family that once lived there. You can visit the rooms on the first floor, decorated by master craftsmen from that time and see their mosaics, ceramics,
stained glass, sculptures, and coffered ceiling. Tickets for guided tours are only available online. Closed on Sundays.
The building is located on the corner of Carrer del Consell de Cent, and is one of the three important buildings of Barcelona’s Illa de la Discòrdia (“Block of Discord”), and it is the only building of the block awarded Barcelona’s town council’s Arts Building Annual Award (Concurso anual de edificios artísticos), obtained in 1906.
