The Region of Hauts-de-France came into being in 2016 bringing together the regions of Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardy. It is situated in the north of France and has borders with Belgium, the English Channel as well as the French regions of Grand Est, Normandy and Île-de-France. It also contains the Channel Tunnel which makes quick and easy connections to the United Kingdom.
Hauts-de-France has some beautiful coastline and long stretches of sandy beaches with rugged cliffs looking out over the English Channel.
