Hill Walking and Climbing on Corsica. The mountains of Corsica provide ample opportunities for both these activities. New footpaths are continually being marked out while huts and refuges are springing up all over the place.
Experienced climbers usually go for the highest peaks. Monte Clinto can be climbed from Asco or from Calacuccia, Paglia Orba and Capo Tafonato from the Col de Vergio, Monte Rotondo from Corte, Monte d’Oro from Vizzavona, Monte Renoso from Bastelica or the Col de Verde, and Monte Incudine from Zicavo.
The longest mountain path is the famous Grande Randonnee which runs all the way through the national park from Calenzana in Balagne in the north-west to Conca near Ste Lucie de Porto-Vecchio in the south-east. It is marked by red and white posts and self catering and emergency accommodation is provided in places along the route. There are also numerous shorter and easier routes for the ordinary visitor for whom the Corsican mountains are an essential part of the holiday.
