A selection of festivals throughout Austria and throughout the year. With Festivals taking place throughout the year there will always be something to look forward to. Dates may vary each year.
July – August
The Bregenzer Festspeile has been held in this spectacular location since 1946 and the lakeside stage or Seebühne (floating stage), is now the largest of its kind. Set actually on the Lake of Constance at Bregenz the surrounding mountains and countryside lend a magnificent backdrop to the Operatic productions staged every summer over four weeks with its 7,000 seat open-air amphitheatre . The producers of the 2008 James Bond film “Quantum of Solace” filmed a section here along with scenes in the nearby town of Feldkirk.
Innsbruck Festival of Early Music
July – August
The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music – Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik has garnered a distinguished international reputation for its ground-breaking work in reviving Baroque opera masterpieces and celebrated its 40th anniversary in the summer of 2016 . It takes place annually in Innsbruck, Austria. It all began with a cantata by Viennese court musician Antonio Caldara, the first piece to be performed in the first ever Festival of Early Music in 1976.
Spring & Autumn
The Dornbirner Messe is a Trade Fair which is now held each Spring and Autumn in the specially built Messehalle or Messe Halls on the outskirts of the town of Dornbirn, Vorarlberg. The earlier Messe were held in the centre of the town for 10 days during the summer and the exhibitions were displayed inside the school buildings and a large beer and food tent was erected in the centre of the town.
The Salzburg Festival -Salzburger Festspiele, is a prominent festival of music and drama established in 1920. It is is one of the cultural highlights of the year and is held each summer, for five weeks starting in late July, within the Austrian Baroque city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The Schubertiade Festival is an event held to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert. These events have been held for over 40 years. The Schubertiade Festival was founded by Hermann Prey in 1976 in the small town of Hohenems in Vorarlberg.
Grafenegg music festival

The Grafenegg Festival is a classical music festival which takes place in the romantic setting of Grafenegg Castle Park close to Vienna.
