Outdoor Activities in Idaho

Idaho is 83,574 square-miles of outdoor recreation heaven, yet its population is slightly less than 1.4 million.

Known for its whitewater rivers, Idaho has licensed and bonded professional outfitters to take you on the ride of your life on the famous Middle Fork of the Salmon River or a more serene float on the Upper Main Salmon. Enjoy a mellow afternoon ride through downtown on the Boise River or head north to the Payette River for a more exciting run. You can jet boat over the rapids through Hells Canyon from either Hells Canyon Dam on the southern end or Lewiston to the north.

Idaho’s rivers offer a wealth of fishing opportunities as well, with more than 10 world-class blue-ribbon trout streams including the Henrys Fork and Silver Creek. Lakes and reservoirs across the state provide a wide variety of both warm and cold-water species for anglers. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game can provide more details on fishing regulations and hot spots to cast your line.
