Shopping in Chicago, Illinois

From Marshall Field to Montgomery Ward, Chicago has a fabled history in the world of retail. In fact, to keep up with the orders from our city’s droves of catalog companies, Chicago build the world’s largest post office. We’ve come from promising beginnings to lead a “magnificent” shopping legacy.

The Magnificent Mile is a throw-it-in-the-bag, history-packed strip of Michigan Avenue between the Michigan Avenue Bridge and Oak Street. Along the tree-lined streets are 500 stores, close to 300 restaurants, and over 50 hotels, it’s 3,100,000 square feet of the good life. A simple stroll along Michigan Avenue and Oak Street will reveal high-end retailers, specialty boutiques, and all-in-one shopping centers. From Louis Vuitton to Niketown, Ralph Lauren to Eddie Bauer, The Magnificent Mile has you covered no matter what you’re style.

The shopping district also has three, large indoor malls. The Shops at North Bridge sprawl six blocks and contain four levels of chic stores including Nordstrom’s flagship.Water Tower Place features a stunning, eight-level atrium and the always popular American Girl Place. The 900 Shops features a six-level Bloomingdale’s, 70 upscale stores and close to a dozen restaurants.

Just south of the designer’s row sits State Street, home to the twelve-story Macy’s on State Street. Macy’s is the second largest department store in the United States, boasting some ten stories of designer fashions. Formerly the Marshall Field’s flagship store, this building has been a haven for Chicago shoppers for over a century.

The shopping district is also home to Jeweler’s Row, the Midwest’s largest display of diamonds and gems. Your group will be dazzled by some of the finest jewelry and luxury accessories.

For international flair in the heart of the Midwest, visit Oak Street. Chicago’s prestigious stretch of extravagance features upscale designer stores like Barney’s New York, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Vera Wang and Moncler.

For one-of-a-kind looks that are sure to make your crew the most fashionable group since ABBA, visit our chic neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park. These neighborhoods are known for their boutique style stores and unique fashion.

Bring home an incredible find from a Chicago market. We have all kinds of regularly scheduled urban and indie designer markets like Randolph Street Market and Indie Designer Market. Not to mention a holiday shopping and dining extravaganza each winter known as Christkindlmarket. It’s no longer just a German tradition. It has become a Chicago staple during the holidays in downtown’s Daley Plaza.
