High sandstone ridge and hill fort overlooking dramatic red sandstone rock houses
Kinver’s woodland sandstone ridge offers dramatic views across surrounding counties and miles of heathland walking country. The famous Holy Austin Rock Houses, which were inhabited until the 1950s, are open to visitors at selected times.
See what life was like for the people who lived at the Rock Houses
Come and marvel at the homes that people carved out for themselves in the hillside at Kinver. One of the homes has been restored to its Victorian heyday. New for this season are the Martindale Caves, restored to show what life was like in the 1930s at the Rock Houses.
Sit down with one of our homemade cakes and a warm drink in the Rock House tea-room, housed inside a restored Rock House. We serve a range of homemade cakes, crisps, chocolate bars and hot and cold drinks. There’s no disabled access but we’re happy to take refreshments to disabled visitors at the picnic table outside the Rock Houses.
Enjoy the fresh air and outdoors in this countryside retreat, just a few miles from Kidderminster and Stourbridge. We have an Adder Adventure Trail to explore and areas of open heathland just perfect for picnics and walking.
