Be transported back to the classic days of rail travel on the Churnet Valley Railway as it passes through the rural landscape of Staffordshire, also known as “Little Switzerland” and enjoy the picturesque stations along the route. The return journey is a 10½ mile long trip along the valley and there’s a taste of contrasting moorland scenery on the 16-mile round trip along the Cauldon branch. The Churnet Valey Railway (CVR) has two headquarters – Cheddleton Station and Kingsley and Froghall Station where most of the passengers begin their journey. It is planned to operate the train through to Alton, for Alton Towers theme park, and leek.
