Blue Planet Aquarium, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire

The Blue Planet Aquarium is situated in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and is a marine and freshwater aquarium. It houses fish tanks, pools and tunnels which allows the visitors to experience the various habitats of the marine environment. The huge main aquarium holds 4,000,000 litres of water and features a 71 metre underwater tunnel. There are themed areas which include Tropical rivers, lakes and ponds, where land meets the sea and seas and oceans. The aquarium contains many varieties of freshwater fish which includes more varieties of sharks than anywhere else in Britain. There are also mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

At the Blue Planet Aquarium it is now possible to get up close and swim with the sharks.
