Customs and traditions are important to us. Annual highlights include the international alphorn meet, cow races, the Alpabfahrten (transfer of cattle back to the lowlands), cheese markets, as well as the ancient Maybear dance or the Betruf, a traditional alpine blessing. In „Heidiland”, visitors can even make their own cheese!
Places of Wonder
Since time immemorial diverse sites in the Heidiland region have encouraged people to stop, take stock, and recharge their batteries. 55 of these spots have been organised into 15 circular walking trails and compiled in a guide, which provides information about the energetic observations and connected facts, myths and legends.
Art & Culture
The Greisinger Museum in Jenins is unique and a must for fans of Middle-Earth (open by appointment only). A further highlight is Bad RagARTz – Europe’s largest open-air sculpture exhibition, which takes place every three years (2015). Besides these, there are numerous museums, military sites and mines also well worth a visit.
UNESCO Site Tectonic Arena Sardona
The processes involved in mountain formation are extremely well visible in the Heidiland holiday region. Insights into local geology can be gleaned on the Geo-Gallery in Flumserberg, during the multimedia Garmil Geo-Tour on Pizol or on the Sardona-World Heritage Trail (a multi-day hike with or without luggage transport service).
