Wengen the Swiss ski resort is part of the Jungfrau Top Ski area and is a town unspoiled. No roads lead to Wengen and it is only reached by the mountain railway which winds its way up in 14 minutes from Lauterbrunnen in the below valley. With the Jungrau mountains behind and its wooden chalets and relaxed atmosphere as well as the established hotels cosy stüblis and lively bars Wengen really is a skiers paradise. The Lauberhorn race (Men’s World Cup) is held in Wengen every year around the middle of January. Wengen has direct access to 112 km of downhill skiing on 33 individual pistes, which are served by 19 ski lifts. If you buy a ski lift Pass it gives you permission to ski or snowboard in the other Jungfrau resorts of Grindelwald and Mürren which are linked by ski lifts. Wengen is perfect for all levels of skiers. Beginners will find nursery slopes with friendly English ski schools. Intermediates will love the many wide open long runs, highlighted by the trip over the Grindelwang. 8km run from the Oberjoch to the resort. For experts, the Lauberhorn is a must on your way down to Wengen, and also the legendary 6 km black down from the Schilthorn revolving restaurant. Wengen also has a lot to over snow boarders and is also home to a snow park.
