This fairytale-like castle has a beautiful park with large trees and is surrounded by old gardens and is located near Haarzuilens in the province of Utrecht. The present castle buildings date from 1892. The park contains many waterworks and a formal garden which reminds one of the French gardens of Versailles. De Haar Castle is the biggest and most luxurious castle of the Netherlands and with it’s towers, turrets, moats, gates and suspension bridges is truly impressive
The park and gardens surrounding De Haar Castle – covering over 135 acres of land – are worth a visit in their own right. The Rose Garden, the Roman Garden, the ponds and canals, as well as the many bridges, romantic vistas and impressive avenues invite visitors to go on long walks or have a picnic. Each season in the park has its own charm.
