De Doelen is a famous concert hall and prominent congress centre, the meeting point for various gatherings in the heart of the city. De Doelen is named after the former music centre that was destroyed during the bombing of May 1940. In 2000, new conference facilities were built on the roof and above the old inner courtyard.
Symphonic concerts (e.g. from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra) are held regularly in the main auditorium and its smaller counterpart, but De Doelen also presents world music and children’s concerts.
