Dudelange is a commune with city status in Southern Luxembourg. It is the fourth most populous commune, with over 18,300 inhabitants. Dudelange is situated close to the border with France.
Also known as “Forge du Sud”, Dudelange lies at the foot of Mount St Jean. The town has many picturesque squares which are dominated by the area’s emblematic red rocks. Dudelange is an important industrial town that grew out of three villages and a steel mill in 1900. The ‘D’ in the name of the ARBED steel company (that later merged into ArcelorMittal) stood for ‘Dudelange.’
The town is also home to the Dudelange Radio Tower, which is a 285-metre high freestanding steel framework FM radio and television transmission tower. The tower was completed in 1957.
