The Caffè Meletti is located in the city of Ascoli Piceno and is listed in the list of 150 historic cafes’ s of Italy .The building overlooks the main town square, Piazza del Popolo , near Palace of the Captains .The start of the room dates from the early twentieth century and since then has been known for its refined elegance. In the Marche town is considered the meeting place of the most illustrious, and the meeting point of culture and social life.
The building was designed by engineer Mark Massimi between 1882 and 1884 to house the Palace of Post and Telegraphs. But the real business of becoming a Coffee house began on 22 December 1905 , when Silvio Meletti bought the building in an auction sale. The Coffee Meletti took its name from its owner and was inaugurated on the evening of 18 May 1907.
With a long coast on the Adriatic sea, Marche cuisine includes fish and seafood dishes in it’s regional specialities. Brodetta is the most famous of the fish stews. Olives grow well in Marche as do grapes, mushrooms, grains and a wide selection of vegetables. Pastas tend to be rich with eggs with the main pasta dishes being lasagne and papparadelle, Marche‘s best known and best loved dish is Vincisgrassi a pasta and meat sauce dish.
