Praiano -During the 10th-11th centuries, Praiano was once the summer residence of the doges of the Duchy of Amalfi. Nowadays the town of Praiano is a beautiful, peaceful oasis on the Amalfi Coast with many hotels set into the side of the mountains offering spectacular views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the evening the main church squares of San Gennaro and San Luca come alive as people meet for drinks and a chat or if you want something a little livelier then head towards the busy bars of Vivaro, bar Sole and Fioriere to listen music and enjoy a glass of wine. Look out for:- Church of San Luca Evangelista ( 1123) with paintings by Renaissance painter Giovanni Bernardo Lama dating to the 16th century, Church of San Giovanni Battista, featuring a well-preserved maiolica tiled floor, dating back to the 12th-13th centuries, Chiesa Santa Maria ad Castra for the wonderful view and mystical experience, Chiesa di San Giovanni with a wonderful floor and pipe organ,
