Palazzo Barberini, Rome
The Palazzo Barberini stands facing the Piazza Barberini in the Trevi district of Rome and it houses the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica. The origins of the palace dates back to 1549 when a “palazzetto” was built on this sloping site by the Sforza family. The National Gallery of Antique Arts is one of the most importabt painting collections in Italy. Amongst the colection are works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Tintoretto, Bernini, Beccafumi, Canaletto and Holbein.
