Even today, there is no railway running the length of the tourist route, which makes the scheduled bus services the most comfortable and relaxed mode of travel. To make the journey even more pleasant for guests, a number of changes designed to make the service more attractive are being introduced:
All buses are equipped with free WLAN so passengers can take advantage of the useful Romantic Road app not only to plan their journey in detail but also to take photos for their digital travel journal. Free audio guides with information about the country, people, towns and landscapes are available from the driver in German, English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. The audio guides work with all commonly-used headphones. If required, headphones can also be purchased from the driver.
The Romantic Road is Germany’s wining and dining route, renowned for the wine produced in the Tauber Valley and filled in the special ‘Bocksbeutel’ bottles. The Romantic Road ‘Zwickel’ beer comes from the ‘Fürstliche Brauerei‘ in Wallerstein. We stock these regional specialities for passengers on board our buses.
Romantic Road Classic Tour:
Frankfurt – Würzburg – Rothenburg – Augsburg (Munich) – Füssen
There will be more photo stops on the journey from north to south. In addition to half-hour stops in Würzburg, Weikersheim, Rothenburg, Dinkelsbühl, Nördlingen and Augsburg, the bus will also stop briefly in Feuchtwangen and at the Pilgrimage Church in Wies. This combination of world-famous and idyllic locations reveals the veritable charm of the Romantic Road. Passengers to Munich change to the train in Augsburg, which not only takes them to the Bavarian capital much faster than by bus but also permits flexible departure times. This is our active contribution to environmental protection. It helps save valuable resources – because nature is close to our heart.
Romantic Road Express:
Füssen – Munich – Augsburg – Rothenburg – Würzburg – Frankfurt
The classic tour that brings passengers as quickly as possible from Füssen and Munich to Rothenburg and, from there, to Frankfurt. The route runs alongside the Alps straight to the Bavarian capital, Munich, and northwards via Augsburg, Nördlingen, Dinkelsbühl, Feuchtwangen and Weikersheim (photo stops).
There is much to see and experience on the Romantic Road. Discover Germany’s most attractive tourist route by stopping en route overnight. Staying in a wine-growing town in the north, such as Würzburg, Bad Mergentheim or Weikersheim, in one of the medieval towns, such as Rothenburg, Feuchtwangen, Dinkelsbühl or Nördlingen, in Germany’s second oldest city, Augsburg, and at the feet of the royal castles in Schwangau or Füssen gives you the chance to experience the most stunning and most popular sights at first hand.
Package arrangements (Independent Tours) are offered with a daily departure guarantee from April to October and include travel with the Romantic Road Bus (if applicable including train ticket from Augsburg to Munich), transfer from the bus stop to the hotel and back, accommodation in traditional hotels in the historic town centres, breakfast and sight-seeing programme.
