Rastatt Favorite Palace

Schloss Favorite (Rastatt) is the oldest German “Porcelain Palace” and the only one to survive almost unchanged. This enchanting Baroque summer residence was built from 1710 – 1727 for Sibylla Augusta of Baden Baden. It is a short distance from the Residential palace and was used for festivities such as hunting, concerts and banquets. Inside no expense was spared as the marble floors frescoed ceilings, embroidered tapestries and priceless furniture show. The Florentiner Kabinett (Florentine Room) is the jewel in the crown of the building. The Palace is also home to the largest collection of Porcelain which Sibylla amassed from Asia and Europe (porcelain, glass and faience) earning the title “Porcelain Palace” The gardens are English in style and have tree lined avenues, fountains and orangeries, all open for the public
