Basilika Birnau

The Sanctuary Birnau is a Mary consecrated baroque church on the northern shore of Lake Constance, between the towns of Nußdorf and Uhldingen Mühlhofen in Baden-Württemberg . The church is located in Birnau on the western route of the Upper Swabian Baroque Route directly on the B 31 . It was from 1746 to 1749 from the Vorarlbergarchitect Peter Thumb for imperial abbey Salem built. The church was a rich baroque features with frescoes by Gottfried Bernhard Goz and stucco , altars and sculptures of Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer , the most famous of honey Schlecker is a putto with the hive. The Church of the upstream religious building with its distinctive bell tower now houses a prioryof Cistercian abbey Wettingen-Mehrerau . Since 1946 she is also the parish church of places Deisendorf and Nußdorf.
