Oulanka National Park is a national park in the Northern Ostrobothnia and Lapland regions of Finland, covering 270 square kilometres (104 sq mi). It was established in 1956 and was expanded again in 1982 and 1989, and it borders with Paanajärvi National Park in Russia.
The Karhunkierros Trail in Oulanka National Park is Finland’s best loved hiking route taking you through rugged landscape and amazing scenery. Here you will observe the power of water with roaring waterfalls, winding rivers and gorges which are crossed by hanging bridges, not for the faint hearted! Thrill seekers can enjoy canoeing along the rapids on the higher river, or take a more gentle option on the lower part of the river.
The park is situated in Southern Lapland near the Russian border. Daily flights to Kuusamo takes the visitor there from Helsinki.
