Information on shopping in the city of Olomouc
Do you like shopping? You don’t have to forgo this hobby while in Olomouc. In the centre of the city, there are many shops and sales galleries, where you can get typical Czech products as well as foreign goods. If you are looking for a day of shopping, you can choose one of the town shopping centres, where you can relax comfortably after a busy day in a good cafe or a restaurant.
Payments by credit card are nowadays possible almost everywhere. It is commonplace in hotels, big restaurants, petrol stations, supermarkets and many other stores. There are also many cash machines for cash withdrawal available.
Usual opening hours of small shops on weekdays are 8:00am to 6:00pm. Some smaller shops have a lunch break between noon and 1:00pm. Larger shops and supermarkets close as late as at 8:00pm. Exceptions are stores with extended opening hours until late evening called „Ve?erka“. Shops are also open on Saturday morning. On Sundays, most shops are closed. Shopping centres are open from 9:00am to 9:00pm the whole week through.
The currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech crown.
Shopping in the city centre
Shopping in large shopping centres is becoming ever more popular. In Olomouc, you can enjoy comfortable shopping in the charming town centre as well. On the Upper Square and its vicinity you will find shops offering traditional Czech products, quality food and modern clothing of famous brands. The varied range of goods and beautiful environment will surely satisfy you. Should you get tired from the shopping, you can relax at numerous cafes in the Olomouc town centre. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee with a view of the historic treasures.
A wide range of souvenirs is on sale at the Information Centre. There are plenty to choose from, whether it’s a small token of your visit or a travel souvenir for your loved ones.

Exchange Offices and Banks
On weekdays, banks are generally open from 9am to 5pm. A number of branches have cash machines available 24 hours a day.
If you need to exchange money, you can do so at any bank, exchange bureau or at the hotel reception. Exchange offices are open weekdays from 8am to 7pm (downtown also on weekends). Foreign visitors should check the fees for foreign exchange services in advance. Private exchange offices offer the best rates (they do not charge any fees).
